BIANCO BIANCO Design

Bianco Bianco, international furniture company, will be presenting its limited collection Per Aspera Ad Astra at the Venice Design Week 2022, from the 1st to the 9th of October.

Bianco Bianco – established in 2011 in Miami – is fully dedicated to always adapting new ideas to the environment, advantageously implementing the “Made in Italy” certification of innovative quality goods.

With over a decade of experience in the design sector, the visionary mind of Jerry Chery, CEO of Bianco Bianco, combined with the meticulous creativity of Arch. Giorgio Canale, Creative Executive Director Bianco Bianco, there is no doubt they can present a sublime collection of lamps with an eclectic outstanding appeal.

Per Aspera ad Astra perfectly fits into this year’s Venice Design Week’s theme: Origins.
Bianco Bianco’s limited collection embodies precisely this concept, lamps that structurally reflect planets, satellites set out as beacons in the night that guide us from the beginning to the end. Per Aspera ad Astra not only represents the Greek and Latin mythological world but also that of the stars and origins, reminiscent of the Big Bang, the primary source of light.

Another important element in the midst is sustainability, taken up by the Origins theme and Bianco Bianco‘s working style: the aim is to create products that are environmentally conscious and eco-friendly. That’s only possible thanks to the industry wise method, the passion about design culture and mostly the brand’s ability to always being one step ahead due to its universal know-how and active practicality.

The setting of the Venice Design Week presentation will be held at Hotel Ca’ Di Dio, a recent addition to VRetreat’s elite line of luxury hotels set in the Grand Canal that precisely reflects the brand’s aesthetics, with an innovative tone of voice as it shines out like a metropolitan diamond, presenting a unique approach of unparalleled hospitality.

Designer’s biography

Giorgio Canale, class 1975, graduated in Architecture at IUAV in Venice, and since 2004 has been a member of the Order of Architects in northern Italy. His versatility and extensive international research activities have involved him in projects in Europe and the United States in the luxury and design sectors. He has a solid rationalist taste combined with a visionary spirit: the linear and clean nature of his work combine different experiences including industrial construction, interior design, and product design.

Per Aspera ad Astra

The theme of this year’s design week is Origins, and what better metaphor than an ode to the heroes of ancient mythology to best represent this concept. Since its origins, life has developed around a stream of adversities to be overcome in order to achieve the absolute good, and if you will, light. Bianco Bianco’s limited collection embodies precisely this narrative, lamps that structurally reflect planets and satellites set out to guide us from the beginning to the end. Per Aspera ad Astra not only represents the mythological world but also that of the stars and origins, reminiscent of the Big Bang, the primary source of light.

Products

LAVINIA
The LAVINIA chandelier was born from the desire to wrap light, surrounding it in a stylized brass cage that surrounds the luminous sphere. Materials such as glass, metal or stone were selected to bring it into the environments of Bianco Bianco because it not only has a more concrete appearance but also a touch of elegance. Lavinia stands for purity and fully reflects the character of the chandelier: the light is simultaneously enclosed and exposed presenting as a works of art, framed for admiration.

ARIOSTO
ARIOSTO, named after the Italian poet bearing the same name, reflects the dualism between love and madness in the poet’s works through its structure: the light is wrapped in a round and harmonious lunar sphere while its frame is square and severe. It is also inspired by the LAVINIA chandelier, whose concept it takes up. This precious table or floor lamp combines a stone base with a thin brass (or other metal) cage, wrapping its luminosity in opaline glass.

OMERO
OMERO, along with the brand’s collection, share the same concept: an illuminated sphere supported by the solidity of natural materials. Unlike the other lamps in the family, OMERO is the most stable; the poet after whom it is named is one of the fathers of literature and heroic tales. Likewise, this piece of furniture is the father of all the others, which varies in design, shape, and the stone that supports and envelops them. It is the lighthouse that guides the other components in taste and refinement.

FLORIO
Created to be used in pairs, the FLORIO mirror combines the magic of the mirror with the use of noble materials, like the family from which it takes its name. The play of brass and stone frames, along with straight and curved lines, emphasize the simplicity of the design line to give space for the personality of the room. The difference in the position of the two parts, top and bottom, emphasize the effect of the material reflecting the images but always in reverse, which is why they are misaligned.

ETTORE
ETTORE is a table lamp that can be used individually to give an incisive character to the environment. It features a strip-led that frames a solid stone monolith. Its solidity echoes the mythological character of the hero who firmly and courageously defended the city of Troy; likewise, the impressiveness of the slab takes space within the place where it is located, lending resolution and decisiveness to the design.

ACHILLE
ACHILLE and Ettore are two sides of the same coin. Two table lamps that can be easily placed in the same environment, or they can be used individually. Unlike Ettore, ACHILLE is a little less austere due to the more creative design in as much as the stone does not touch the base but remains as if suspended. This detail is reminiscent of Achilles’ heel, the only part not dipped in the River Styx, a concept that recalls the hero’s humanity that brings him to the same level as Ettore.

VALENTINA
VALENTINA represents the emblem of the Bianco Bianco style, with hard and soft lines and round and square shapes. It is a seat capable of giving character to an entire environment since it is made mainly of brass, but also available in different metals to adapt to every type of environment, and every material, and fabric that compose the mood palette of space design. Valentina is adaptable not only for its structural composition but also for its functions: it can support as a seat or as an anatomical coffee table.

DEMETRA
Demetra joins the latest Bianco Bianco’s collection, an indoor separator that fully embodies its name. The work is, in fact, made of natural stone but completely reflects the softness, flexibility and lightness of leaves found in nature. This is because two deep-rooted limitations in the stone industry are deconstructed: it is not static and heavy, but rather adaptable to the environment in which it is presented, thanks to its undulating shape that allows it to be freely positioned and curved. The ductility of the piece allows it to adapt in the ambience, delimiting areas and creating different intimate spaces, due to the multiplicity of designs and formats in which Demetra is exhibited.

SOUFFLE (Vase collection)
SOUFFLE is a collection signed exclusively by Bianco Bianco and Paolo Crepax that transcends the laws of physics and ordinary design. The union of Crepax’s genius and Bianco Bianco’s visionary gaze result in a collection of sublime vases never seen before. Its bold shapes do not overpower the lightness of glass but enhance its potential. The Master of Murano creates artistic compositions more than pieces of furniture, swirls with an undulating cut that cannot fail to bear Bianco Bianco’s signature thanks to superlative architecture.
