Francisco Gomez Paz

Born in Argentina in 1975, Francisco Gomez Paz obtained is degree in Industrial Design at the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba. In 1998 he started the Master in Design at the Domus Academy of Milan. Since then, he has opened a design office in Milan, where he still lives and works, and developed products for leading design companies such as Artemide, Driade, Danese, Olivetti, Sector, Gispen, Sumampa, Conven, Apen Group and Italkero among others. Gomez Paz’s approach to design is driven by his knowledge of technology and materials as well as his own curiosity and his highly experimental hands-on creative process. He has received several international recognitions among which the Prize of Prizes to Innovation in Design from Italy’s former president Giorgio Napolitano for the Hope chandelier and the prestigious Compasso d’Oro 2011. Active in the fields of research and education, he is visiting professor at Domus Academy from 2000 and has held lectures in Italy and abroad. His projects are of international relevance having been exhibited in several events and published by the main design publications all over the world.

MESH
Visually impactful, MESH is a light chandelier, with an almost transparent structure, made of a net of flexible wires meeting in knots where LED sources are placed. The structure hides the complexity of the project and, almost disappearing, it leaves space for the light, only real protagonist.
